It's My Life

2002-01-23 - Cheater Cheater Pumpkim Poop (Part 2)

Down With Cheaters

Ok, first off, I'd like to thank all those who gave me advice/opinions on my previous entry. While there were a few "keep it to myself" comments, I am happy and proud to admit that the majority of you are honest and gutsy readers.

So, I bet you are wondering what I actually ended up doing...if anything at all. Well, I did end up emailing the professor and telling her exactly what I saw, that a girl wrote a quiz for an absent friend, that she left off her friend's student number, and that to boot, she also was cheating by using her textbook. Well, this morning before class I got a reply from the prof telling me thank you for letting her know and that it's hard for her to monitor at all times but she'd try her best next time. I was somewhat disappointed by her response because in my mind, it wasn't harsh enough. But it was now out of my hands. Disappointed. Until I got to class an hour later.

The prof says "before we start today there's something I'd like to discuss" and she turns around and writes in huge letters on the blackboard:

cheating

Oh man, I nearly peed my pants. She starts off saying that she'd been notified of cheating on the last quiz, that it was unacceptable, it had better not happen again, etc. At this point, I have placed myself a few rows behind "the girls" where they can't see me but I sure can see them. And their facial expressions. They are sitting there all smug. Until she says that she knows who the cheater(s) are because one does not have a student number on it. And that she will be talking and punishing those people. Small bonus quiz or not. Do you know what people do when they get a little bit nervous? Their face gets red all of a sudden. They start chewing their gum quickly. Chewing on the end of their pen. Look quickly at their friend. Slink down in their seat. *muuuwaaahahaha*

And THAT folks, is a good quality Psychology class. Human behavior at it's finest.
